Tavistock 8 - 15 Exmouth
Exmouth travelled to Tavistock and had a comfortable win to progress to the Devon Colts League plate final against Bideford this Saturday.Man-of-the-match Ben Waistell scored two tries with a storming performance in the back row.
Lloyd Murrin danced his way through to add a third. Tavistock replied late in the second half with an unconverted try and a penalty.
Exmouth started the better, showing great skill in both the back and forward divisions to score first through Dan McCloud after the forwards and backs linked well.
Continuity and support play was the key factor in this victory. There always seemed to be another player to continue the forward momentum and it was centre Tim Green who was next on the scoresheet.
McCloud added his second before Newton Abbot, who were always in the game, replied with a converted try late in the second half.
Jake Gauntlet had an outstanding game and Anthony Tribble caused problems for the Newton defence with his elusive running.
Ty Tuckett had a successful run-out at fly-half, mixing his game with a variety of breaks, passes, kicks and runs which always had the opposition guessing.
Skipper Joe Parkin went off injured and Dan Loveridge proved to be an excellent stand-in in his first match back from injury. The players will strengthen the colts team for next season.
